The AMEC Lineman Fundamentals and Climber Certification Lab is scheduled for April 6-10, 2026, at the AMEC training center annex.  Enrollment is limited to 24 attendees.  

This lab is optional and not required for AMEC journeyman certification.  However, it is highly recommended for any employee who has not been certified to climb through a formal certification process. A copy of the program is available here.

This class is very physically demanding. Attendees should be prepared to spend the majority of the course time engaged in pole-climbing activities. Therefore, appropriate climbing boots are imperative.  Attendees should also bring: 

  • Properly Sized Climbers with Gaff Guards    
  • Hard Hat
  • Properly Sized Lineman’s Belt            
  • Safety Glasses
  • Wood Pole Fall Restraint Device            
  • Handline
  • Work Gloves                    
  • Basic Hand Tools
  • Rainwear                    
  • Long Sleeve Shirts 

The registration fee is $850 and includes lunch on April 6-9.  We have a block of rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott, 610 Bolivar, Jefferson City, phone 573-761-1400.  The room rate is $149 single/double.  When making your room reservations, use the block code AME  You can also go online to make your room reservation.
