At their core, electric cooperatives are based on the idea of people and groups
working together to solve problems. This was true when farmers and
other rural people banded together to bring electricity to the countryside
in the 1930s and it's true today. Every electric cooperative relies on a vast network of
organizations to better serve their members — from AMEC, which gathers Missouri's
co-ops on a statewide basis to NRECA, the national association, and many other
groups,
co-ops tackle problems by working together.
