The activities of the Association
of Missouri Electric Cooperatives are delegated to specialized departments
with particular expertise to address the needs of our member systems.
Each of these departments performs the individual duties assigned to
it and works with the other departments to ensure that Missouri's electric
cooperatives have a strong and effective statewide association. The
main departments within the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives
are:
AMEC's Government
Relations Department represents the interests of Missouri's electric
cooperatives before the state and federal legislators and agencies.
AMEC's Member
Services Department assists Missouri's local electric cooperatives
with marketing efforts and other programs intended to promote
electric coopertives in the community. Among these efforts are
Missouri electric co-ops' presence at the Missouri State Fair
and the annual Youth Tour to Washington,
D.C., program.
AMEC's Communication's
Department publishes the Rural Missouri
statewide publication and assists member systems in the production
of other printed materials. The association's print shop offers
high-quality printing of brochures, stationary and other materials.
Our lineman
training program has been called the envy of the nation. In addition
to training schools held at the AMEC headquarters in Jefferson
CIty, the association's instructors travel to individual co-ops
conducting regular safety and training meetings. The department
also offers certified dielectric testing of cooperative service
trucks and equipment.
