Recovery continues in hardest hit areas

View the latest information about Missouri co-op systems affected by the ice storm.

WIth the exception of three hard-hit systems in northwest Missouri, the state's electric cooperatives have nearly completed restoring power to consumers affected by this week's winter storms. Grundy Electric Cooperative and United Electric Cooperative in northwest Missouri still face significant outages but are making progress to restore power to all consumers. In southwest Missouri, Barton County Electric Cooperative is nearing completion of its restoration efforts as well.

Most of the states cooperatives have completed restoration efforts or will do so today. In some areas it is possible that clean-up efforts will result in temporary outages for some members as lines are de-energized for safety considerations.

The hardest hit electric cooperative in Missouri, United Electric Cooperative, based in Maryville, reports as many as 2,500 members are still without power. It may be mid-week before power is completely restored. Trenton-based Grundy Electric Cooperative reports less than 500 members remain without power. About 100 members of Atchison-Holt Electric, located in Rockport, are without power. Full restoration at that system is expected today.

In southwest Missouri, muddy conditions hamper recovery efforts at Barton County Electric Cooperative. That system has about 375 members without power and expects to complete recovery before Monday.
