Co-ops work together to restore power

A dozen electric cooperatives across southern Missouri are once again restoring power in the wake of a winter storm that dumped heavy ice on their lines and caused about 29,000 members to lose power. The Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives again enacted its Emergency Assistance Program to send assistance to the three electric cooperatives hit the hardest. System restored

Most electric co-ops back on

Most of the electric cooperatives affected by the season’s first major winter storm report outages have been fully restored today while three have
isolated outages and a third still has heavy outages. Barton County Electric, Lamar, reports fewer than 100 without power while Grundy Electric, Trenton has about 75 without power and Atchison-Holt Electric, Rockport is mopping up the last 40. continues in hardest hit areas

WIth
the exception of three hard-hit systems in northwest Missouri,
the state's electric cooperatives are nearly complete restoring
power to consumers affected by this week's ice storms. Grundy
Electric Cooperative and United Electric Cooperative in northwest
Missouri still face significant outages but are making progress
to restore power to all consumers. In southwest Missouri, Barton
County Electric Cooperative is nearing completion of its restoration

Across Missouri’s northernmost tier of counties, strong winds met ice-laden trees reversing much of the hard work done Wednesday by electric cooperative crews. Still, statewide outage numbers steadily declined to around 15,000 by

Progress continues on co-op outage restoration

Missouri’s electric cooperatives in the path of a series of winter storms made great progress restoring power overnight, despite continuing bouts of freezing rain that fell across the northern half of Missouri. Most of the northern Missouri electric co-ops barely held their own overnight as new ice added to their problems. Macon; Platte-Clay Electric, Kearney; North-Central Missouri

New ice causes more electric co-op outages

After a day of progress restoring power, several Missouri electric cooperatives saw much of their work undone as additional ice fell across the state Monday night. Missouri’s electric cooperatives enacted their Emergency Assistance Program Dec. 9 as the season’s first ice storm pounded rural power lines in a band stretching from Joplin to St. Louis. Nearly 35,000 electric cooperative members were without power in the wake of the devastating storm. That number had fallen to 28,000 as crews worked through the night to restore power.
